      <image:title>About - About Me</image:title>
<image:caption>A native Clevelander, Jamie Levine Daniel is the Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation Associate Professor of Nonprofit Management and Public Service at New York University’s Robert F. Wagner’s Graduate School of Public Service. Her research interests include nonprofit capacity, nonprofit finance, organizational identity, and public service delivery. Jamie earned her BA in International Relations and Jewish Studies from American University in Washington, DC, and spent five years working for BBYO Inc. There she focused on informal education and leadership development for high school students, and led number conventions and programs across the U.S. and Israel. After leaving BBYO, Jamie spent a year as a JDC Jewish Service Corps volunteer in Izmir, Türkiye. Her responsibilities including teaching Hebrew to kindergarteners (in Turkish!), helping the youth leaders plan their educational programs for the even younger kids, and running programs for and with the women in the community. Jamie swore up and down she would never go to Ohio State, so of course she ended up getting two graduate degrees over the span of eight years. She received her MBA from the Fisher College of Business, and her doctorate in public policy and management from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. Before joining the Wagner Faculty, she spent 8 years on faculty at Indiana University-Purdue University’s Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. In her spare time, Jamie enjoys reading, running, yoga, and crocheting.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Teaching - My Teaching Philosophy</image:title>
<image:caption>I teach students who exhibit a broad range of connections to the nonprofit and public sectors. My strong commitment to educating leaders to critique technical rationality, demonstrate cultural competence, and engender trust in their institutions guides my in-class approach and scholarly philosophy. My courses are designed to reinforce the material’s real-world applicability, but also for students to gain valuable communication and analysis skills to be used beyond our classroom. My primary goal is to provide an inclusive environment in which students stretch their boundaries of intellectual comfort as they grow and learn. This philosophy guides both face-to-face and online courses. Informed by our own challenges in navigating our scholarly and personal identities, and lack of resources in the field, I worked with two coauthors (Dr. Fyall and Dr. Jodi Benenson) to publish “Talking about antisemitism in MPA classrooms and beyond” in JPAE, the top academic outlet in public affairs for examining pedagogy.
